On Tuesday, February 16th, I received a call from my transplant coordinator and she informed me that my kidneys are too big to leave in and that there isn’t room to transplant a kidney. This means mine have to come out before a transplant. They won’t remove my kidneys until I find a living donor or I am on dialysis. That means that I will be inactive on the non-living donor list until I am on dialysis, so waiting for a non-living donor would be even longer. This is just one more reason I need to find a living donor quickly. My kidneys are estimated to weigh somewhere between 20 and 30 lbs. for both of them.
